According to the inland waterways regulations (BinSchStrO), all boats must have a 10cm name and a marking, in any case on the outside or inside of the boat the name and address of the owner (in small letters).
Extract from: § 2.02 of the Binnenschiffahrtsstraßenordnung (BinSchStrO), according to which muscle-powered boats (small vehicles) are not to be officially registered, but nevertheless to be named with at least 10 cm large Latin letters. Nameless boats shall bear the name or abbreviation of the organisation to which they belong, plus the name and address of the owner (in small letters) on the outside or inside of the boat. Only surfboards are excluded from this regulation. - Excerpt End-.
